What I did today

I'm taking another Mystery Quilt class on New Year's Day. This is my quilt top. I LOVE IT! Hot pink, lime greens, and turquoise. Mike's not a fan, but that's probably because it's so girly. haha.
I'm also making a quilt out of Amy Butler's Love. My pile of scraps was so pretty I just had to take a picture.

And these are the fabrics I'm using. I'm doing Turning Twenty, so I bought 6 half yards to make a throw/twin size quilt. I still need to buy my border and backing fabrics, but Gracie Lou's is out of the fabric I wanted to use, so I'm going to have to find it elsewhere :( I'm hoping to get the quilt sewn together tomorrow. I cut out all the pieces, so I just need to sew it all together. Then when I get my border and back I can bust that baby out and have me a nice new quilt...that's pretty, too! :)
Also, I found this really great counted cross stitch pattern book: Paula Vaughan's Quilts for all Seasons. It is a quilt a month in cross stitch. I got it at Joann's. I haven't cross stitched for FOREVER, but I couldn't pass up the chance to have a different cross stitched quilt for each month! So, I've got a goal to do 1 a month. This month I'm working on January's. I don't know if I'll have it done in time. Here's to hoping! {fingers crossed}

Christmas

This is Christmas afternoon at around noon, on I-15 NB. I don't know if you can see it in the photos, but you can only see the mountains. That is how BAD the air quality is right now!!
Can you believe how GROSS that is?! We BREATHE that crap! YUCK!

Nana and Pop-pop got Marshy a puzzle, and of course he wanted to put it together like a million times while we were there.

He's so smart!

And once he does the puzzle twice, then he can do it super quickly!!

Christmas Eve and Other Precious Moments

Before going to the dinosaur museum in November, we stopped at L&L's Hawaiian Barbecue in Provo for lunch. Oh it is the best Hawaiian food I've ever had! Get the Kalua Pork without cabbage. It is so yummy!! Or the chicken katsu...or the spam musubi. Mmmm.....I know what I want for lunch on Monday! haha

Marshy had a shy moment.

"Love you, Dad!"

Marshy shared Mike's chicken katsu, and he LOVED it! of course, he'll eat any meat as long as you tell him it's chicken! haha

One day at the shop, great-niece Gabby decided to play hair salon with Marshy. Marshy didn't seem to care....he was too enthralled with the DS.

Mike's desktop computer is up in our room. He likes to play video games on it, and Marshy likes to sit in our bed next to Mike and play the Nintendo DS. He fell asleep playing one night. So precious!

Pre-Christmas open house at the shop. Cheesing it up, of course!
Marshy woke up at 5 AM on Christmas Eve. The family party was at 6 PM, so we tried to get him to take a nap (or as we called it a "rest"). He wouldn't sleep in his own room, so I had him lie down by me on the couch. Next thing I knew, Mike was waking us up at 5:30!!

At the party, being a kitty cat (or a puppy, depending on the mood)

Playing with Sparky. Sparky wasn't too happy.

"Let me go! Let me go! Momma help me! This little boy is driving me nuts!!"
All the kids opened up pajamas. We forgot to buy him jammies, so we let him open one of his books. He immediately went and sat with Grandma and Grandpa to show them his story.

Dancing with the kids.

Drinking his sprite in a sippy cup.

At the shop, with Alex. I was trying to get the tripod set up for the right height and distance for the Colton's Angels photo, but then we ended up cancelling the meeting. Alex was kind enough to be the model. Marshy saw the camera and decided to cheese it up.

Natural History Museum - Thanksgiving Point

In November we took Marshy to the Natural History Museum at Thanksgiving Point. He had so much fun.
They have an erosion table in one area, and he had so much fun there playing in the water and the sand.
He would go around to all the different spots at the table and take all the little plastic dinosaurs. Then he'd bury them!

Or he'd make them go "swimming". haha

The center area was raised and the kids have to climb through this little space to get there. Marshy was afraid to touch the floor because his hands would get dirty....even though he was playing in sand and water....funny boy! He was so mad when we made him leave that area.

I love these pictures we took of him on the dinosaur. What a cheeser!!

I think this one is my favorite. Cute boy.

There was another section that had fish and sharks and stuff in it. This huge shark totally freaked him out at first!
This is my fat picture, btw. I hate the way I'm smiling, but he's such a cutie I had to put it on here.

What a cheese!

I LOVE this one! "WOAH!"

Marshy's Christmas Haul

We got so many presents from Santa this year! Thank you Santa! He brought me 2 1000 piece puzzles from the Hometown Collection.
He brought Mike the R.A. Salvatore Legend of Drizzt Set 2 books (box set of 3 books) and a package of Pepperidge Farms Soft Baked Chunk Macadamia Nut cookies.

Marshy got quite the haul from Santa! New Cars beddings, a Mickey Mouse flashlight, a Spongebob Magnetix drawing pad, a crochet puppy, Elefun, Where the Wild Things Are, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, a dinosaur book, and a candy cane full of candy.
From Grandma and Grandpa P he got some hand puppets. From Aunt Di and her family he got a cute little remote control puppy. It's blue and it barks and wags its tail when you push one button, and walks when you push another. He LOVES it! Nana and Pop-pop gave him a Wonder Pets puzzle.
Mike and I got a new waffle iron, some waffle mix, and Mike got a pair of slippers from his parents. Thank you so much! We needed a new waffle iron (how did you know?!)! :) From my parents we got the Legend of Drizzt Set 1 (R.A. Salvatore) books box set of 3 books, and my brother gave us Bug's Life on blu-ray. Mike's sister gave us 2 word games: Bananarama and Quiddle (they look really fun, we can't wait to try them!) and MIB on blu-ray.
We had quite the haul by the time we got home! Thank you so much to everyone!!

Last year I bought yards and yards and yards of Disney's Cars fabric. I had all these great ideas of making curtains and matching sheets and a really cute quilt all for Marshy's room for his birthday....last year. It so didn't get done! I made the quilt, but it sat around waiting to be quilted. It finally got done (photo further down).
I made a flat sheet out of my leftover Cars Lightning McQueen fabric. It isn't as big as I thought I was making it, but it looks cute on Marshy's bed, and he likes it which is all that matters.
I also made a pillowcase. I have some of the tan fabric leftover, and am considering making curtains out of them....maybe. We'll see what happens! haha

This is the quilt I made. It turned out so cute....and HUGE! I didn't realize how big it was when I made it. Tonight, putting it on Marshy's bed was an adventure. Let's just say that a twin size quilt looks really big on a converted crib/daybed! haha :)
I also made a bedskirt. It looks so cute on his bed with all the pieces together! And he loves it, and that is all I really care about. :)
