Airing of Grievances

Okay, so I know it isn't Festivus, yet, but I have to say this....

I recently finished re-reading the Twilight series, and am, as I type, re-watching the DVD (I got the books and the movie for my birthday).

Now, as I read the books, I realized that Twilight the book is not nearly as dark as the movie. Also, as I read all the books, the actors from the movie fit in almost seamlessly with my mental perception of what the characters should look like.

With one exception:

Edward.

Why? Oh why? Oh why?

He doesn't fit in.

I know this is going to make a lot of people angry, but seriously: WHY?

Okay, that's all. Thanks for listening. :)

Salem Days Quilt Show

Salem Days Quilt Show
Saturday, August 8th
10 Am - 2 Pm
The white church on Main Street in Salem, Utah

Please come join us for a fabulous quilt show! We've just starting getting quilts, and they are all fabulous!

Also, there will be a raffle with fabulous prizes:

Quilts
Wallhangings
Queen Size Hobbs Wool batting
Silk Flower arrangement (courtesy Sweetbriar Cove, 801-423-1876 to order flowers, fresh or silk)

For $5, you get 3 raffle tickets. The more tickets you get, the more chances you have to win.

What is the raffle for?

The raffle is to benefit Colton's Angels, a local group of women who get together every month to do humanitarian work. One of the projects they are working on is a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees. The tree they are donating is in Colton's name, and will be Rock Band/Guitar Hero themed. Proceeds from the raffle go to Colton's Angels to assist with the purchase of the required items for the Christmas tree.

At the Festival, the trees will be auctioned off and sold. Proceeds from the sale of the donated trees go to benefit Primary Children's Hospital, a hospital in Salt Lake City that works with children and their families who need special care, or who cannot afford treatment.

If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please stop by the Salem Days Quilt Show and purchase raffle tickets. If you would like to donate and enter the raffle, but cannot make it to Salem for the show, please contact me and I will get you taken care of.

I have HAD IT!

I feel like I am living in a horror movie. It would be called Invasion of the Pill Bugs.
Don't laugh.
I am totally serious.
I vacuum my house DAILY.
Why? Because of the pill bugs.
Yes, under the high chair gets dirty, and that would get vacuumed daily regardless, but my vacuum no longer gets put away.
EVER.
NEVER.
Here's why:
I woke up one morning and went downstairs with Marshy to get him breakfast.
There were 10 pill bugs running around the floor.
I quickly sent them swimming down the pipes.
When I walked back into the living room there were 10 more.
They met the same fate as their brothers and sisters.
When I walked back into the living room there were 5 more.
They are constantly appearing out of NOWHERE.
I guess I should be happy, because our friends who lived here before us had spider infestations.
(I HATE spiders)
We bought bug bombs to set off one day while we're gone.
I'm having a hard time with this though. They are kind of a pain in the butt to set up. Everything plastic or electronic or food-related has to be covered with newspaper, plastic sheeting, or a sheet.
I don't have nearly enough of any of those items to cover all of my crap.
However, after tonight, I am definitely leaning toward the inconvenience.
I picked a dirty dishtowel off the floor (it had fallen off the counter last night or this morning, not sure when) and shook it out.
50 pill bugs fell out of it. They were all still alive.
I tried really hard not to scream hysterically as they went flying across the kitchen floor and squirmed around trying to flip over from their backs.
EWWWWWW!!!!!!
Can you tell I hate bugs?
Any suggestions for what I should do, besides the pain-in-the-butt-bug-bomb?
My landlord probably won't spray the building. Our friends have flying ants and flies in their apartment on the other side of the complex. Of course, they live next to the dumpster. And when they lived where we live now, they had spiders.
Again, really glad it isn't spiders.
I saw a spider tonight though. The first one in about 5 weeks.
It's probably because I've been vacuuming so stinkin' much.

Don't Stare, Just Ask

So, I recently popped a blood vessel in my eye.
How, you ask? Well, I threw up.
Violently enough that it popped a blood vessel in my right eye.
It looks kind of cool/weird/funky/gross.
The worst part is that people either stare at it, or try to not stare at it.
I can guess what they're thinking.
"Dude! Look at that girl's eye! It's all messed up and sick and stuff!"
or
"How dare she walk around in public with pink eye?"
Well, now you know what's wrong.....so stop assuming.
And next time, just ask me what's wrong.

One of those days....

Today is one of those days.

The kind of days when things don't get done.

Why? Because I'm currently re-reading the Twilight Saga. It is way better than I remembered it.

Anyway, I have managed to get a few things done. Several quilts, in particular. This one was my favorite. It took me a week, but it turned out so good!

Also, I've started working out again. UGH! It is so hard. Last night was the worst, because we had a bbq right before. I would've put it off, but I know that I have to be good. Besides, I have a work out buddy and she was already at my house! haha

I'm also working on a few other things, so we'll see how they all go. Does anyone else ever feel like they are stretched too thin in a million directions? It's not just me, right?

Also, preparing for court at the end of August. I'm nervous, but excited. Again, I'll let ya'all know how that one turns out.

Next week I hope to be done reading the Twilight books, so then I'll have more time to actually post things here on my blog. :D

Bear Lake Tabernacle

While we were on vay-cay in Bear Lake, we went to the tabernacle in Paris, Idaho. It is beautiful....and old.
"Little" brother Jonny, sprawled out on the benches. I can't remember why, but we went to church once here when I was little. Maybe it was stake conference or something? I don't know. It was not a pleasant experience. The benches are really hard and uncomfortable.

Mike and Marshy, looking down from the upper level.

Isn't it beautiful? I want to go on the tour sometime. We didn't go, because we didn't have time, but it sounded like it would be really fun.
