UPDATED!

I have almost completely updated my quilting blog! YAY! I'd stay up and finish uploading the last 5 quilts from this month, but it's 2:30 AM Christmas morning....I think I'll go get a few hours of sleep before we wake Marshy up to see what Santa brought!

So, if you have time or the chance, go visit my quilting blog and see the cute quilts people have made. I get so many ideas from the quilts I quilt because I see so many different patterns and fabrics and styles of quilts.

AND, HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Finally Updated....sort of...and some BIG news!!!

I finally updated my quilting blog!! Yes, I realize that it's now December and I'm just barely posting Halloween quilts.

BUT!! At least I am getting it updated, right? Right? That's what I thought :D

People have done some really great things though, so please, go check it out.

Oh, and in totally other random news.....

Are you ready for the BIG news?

I bet you are.

I bet you're just dying to hear what I'm going to say.

Can you guess??

I bet you can't.

I bet you'll guess wrong. (unless you already know the big news....)

Ready?

Here it is:

WE BOOKED THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE TODAY!!!

Again, I realize that it isn't until June, but we figured that if we really wanted our party to be as awesome, hopefully better, than the New Moon party, we needed to jump on the opportunity to book it. :) So, it's booked. Keep checking back here and on the Colton's Angels blog for more information. If you're a blogger user (or have a gmail account) you can fan us and get updates directly to your account whenever we post something new. :)

(That's the big news. You all thought it was going to be me announcing I was pregnant or something, right? Let's be honest. I know I'm fat. When the lady at the fabric store asks you if you're expecting.....Let's just say I can take a hint.)

Okay, so I'm not done, but seeing as how it's 2:30 AM on Saturday morning, I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

That being said, I have added some new posts to my quilting blog. You should go check out the cute quilts people have been making! And see the cute Cars quilt that I FINALLY finished for Marshy.

Okay, so it's not completely done, yet, but it will be. It's about 7/8 of the way bound. :)

ALSO! There are less than 2 weeks until the NEW MOON PARTY. I am so excited! It's going to be awesome. It's funny, but we've sold a whole bunch of tickets these last few days. It's starting to look like we might sell all of our tickets :) YAY! BUT! Tickets are still available, so if you are interested PLEASE give us a call 801-423-1876 or email me at coltonsangels@gmail.com.

More updates coming, I promise! :)

Precious Moments and Quilting Updates

This little boy is such a cheeser! Every time I get the camera out he runs over shouting "Cheese!" and smiles really big for me. He makes me take a picture every time....not like I wouldn't normally, anyway.

He has been such a sweet boy lately. If I say "Let's go home" he is instantly outside, in the car waiting to be buckled in. If I don't buckle my seat belt he says "East belt mommy!" until I put it on. Sometimes he has even handed it to me! :)

He says "Keep-boo-boo" instead of Peek a boo. He wakes me up every morning by snuggling up next to me in bed before making me take him downstairs for breakfast.

He calls his cousin Jessica "Assy".....still.....We're working on that one. haha

He wants to be a turtle for Halloween. I only have the stomach part of the shell done. He likes to run around the house holding it up to his stomach yelling "Turtle! Turtle! Turtle!"

Also.....I updated my quilting blog. There are some really cute quilts on there, and a beautiful Jelly Roll quilt (I want the pattern!!!). Go check it out!

Colton's Angels Blog and NEW MOON PARTY!!!

OMG! I am so excited about the new Twilight movie, NEW MOON, that I can hardly stand it!!!

Colton's Angels and Borto Deseret Orphanage are hosting a huge party for New Moon in November. It is going to be awesome!!

They've booked 2 showings of the movie on the night of November 24th. Tickets are $30 and include your seat, concessions, a souvenir, and a donation to Colton's Angels and Borto Deseret.

Borto Deseret is an orphanage in Liberia that my mother-in-law is working with. They have a lot of orphaned and abandoned kids that they take care of. We can't send physical items over to them, because of the cost, but monetary donations go directly to food, clothing, medicines, and bedding for the children.

Colton's Angels has a brand new blog. They are a group of women who provide an annual scholarship for a graduating senior who wants to go into the auto mechanics program. They are also participating in the Festival of Trees this year. In addition to this, they are currently in the process of making comfort items for children and families who need to spend time in the hospital, blankets for fetal demise, and items for newborns in the NICU and nursery.

More details on the NEW MOON PARTY will be announced soon. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket to this party, please contact Colton's Angels at coltonsangels@gmail.com

Quilting updates

Just updated my quilting blog. Again. It seems to keep getting away from me, so every time I go to update it I have like 5 posts to do!

Anyway, please go check it out. There are some really cute quilts on there. Some of them you can get patterns, fabric, notions, whatever for at Gracie Lou's. They have the cutest things! I swear, if I had unlimited resources, didn't have to sleep, and had all my time to myself, I would totally quilt all day!!

Also, I know that school is just starting (next week), but it's never too early to start thinking about custom made Christmas presents. T-shirt quilts make great Christmas presents, and you don't even have to do anything to get them! I will do all the work, you just provide the t-shirts. The quilts start at $14.00 per block. That includes everything needed to make the quilt: materials, labor, quilting, binding, batting.....EVERYTHING. Including FABRIC.

Quilting updates

I've updated my quilting blog (finally!) There have been so many cute quilts coming my way lately!

My favorite is the Monster Truck playmat.

But the Clementine quilt is adorable. If I had a little girl, I would make it for her (along with everything that Izzy n Ivy have designed).

Also, check out this cute table topper my MIL made.

These are just a few of my favorites. Please check out my quilting blog here, and comments are always kindly appreciated. :)

My Gears are GRINDING!

"You know what really grinds my gears?" (~Peter Griffin on Family Guy)

Seriously. The fact that Hotmail has been down for over 14 hours is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!

The best part about it is that when you post a question to their help forum, they send you an email to your hotmail account. HAHAHAHAHA So NOT FUNNY!

How do I know it's going to my hotmail account? Because my windows live messenger still works. I just can't access my email.

And, it's not just me that is affected. From what I can tell, there are at least 100s of people affected by this. Again: ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!

We've all been posting on the forums, and of course, the Hotmail Live Help Team isn't giving us any answers. All they do is send you a link to a "help" page that has absolutely NO relevant information about how to fix the problem, and then say they can't tell you what's going on or how long it will take to fix it.

What I want to know is, how long will this be down? Seriously! 14 1/2 hours!!! That's most of my day that I haven't been able to access my email account.

THIS IS MAKING ME VERY ANGRY!

..... and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmph!

I'm trying to log in to my email. It happens to be a hotmail account. It won't let me log in!! This is the error I get:

The Windows Live Network is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:
This site may be experiencing a problem
The site may not be a member of the Windows Live Network
You can:
You can sign in or sign up at other sites on the Windows Live Network, or try again later at this site.

I've been trying back later every minute for the past 15. Will someone over at Hotmail fix the problem so I can check my stinking email?!?!?!

One Year Mark

Silly me, I forgot to celebrate my 1 year mark. It was last week. On the 8th. People said I wouldn't make it this long. People were wrong. I'm going strong still, and I have 2 blogs I keep up!! :)

Thanks to all of you who read my blog(s). I really appreciate your readership. Even if you're a lurker, I know you're there! And don't be afraid to say something. I don't bite...unless I'm really hungry from my diet. But as of right now, you don't have anything to worry about. haha ;)

As Promised

As promised...I have finally gotten to it! I have uploaded quilt pictures on the other blog! I honestly didn't realize how behind I was until I was getting them all off of the camera. Holy Crap! There were 36 pictures! At approximately 2 pictures per quilt, that makes like what? 18 quilts?! Nuts!

Anyway, here are the links:

cupcake quilt
teacher quilt - this one was made by two elementary school boys. Check it out! They did an amazing job!
photo quilt
bedspread quilt
9 patch quilt
Christmas quilt
Be-Attitudes quilt - check this one out, too, for sure! It was such a cute pattern (by Nancy Halverson)
Wedding Table runner - this is the second of the two runners I did for my cousins getting married this week.
another photo quilt
black, white and yellow quilt
G-ma H's quilt - I finally finished this one! This is the one that I have the binding made for, just not attached because it is too late to sew it on. :(
G-ma M's quilt - I have the binding attached to this massive quilt, and now just need to finish it off. Grandma's birthday happens to be on Christmas day, so we decided to give her and Grandpa a large quilt.

And, to end this post of all posts, here is a cute picture of my Marshy. We had taken Mike's car one day, so I had brought the car seat in to the house instead of switching it back into my car (probably because I didn't have my keys with me). Well, he just wanted to sit in that chair and read Mike's scuba magazines. He likes to look at the fish. In fact, every time we get a new one is his favorite day! haha

Sunday Praises

Since it is Sunday, I thought I would share this worship-tastic video. This is one of my favorite Christian rock songs. I think the puppet is a cute idea. Enjoy!!

300 POSTS!!!

Wow!! I cannot believe I have made it to 300 posts! And I only started blogging in January!!

I've posted a whole bunch of newly finished quilts here. Go check them out! Here is just a sampling:

These are only 2 of the quilts I posted about. To see more pictures of these, and the other quilts, go here now.

Today we had Colton's Angels. It was a fun night. We learned how to make this really yummy, easy bread. I can't wait to try it out for myself and have Mike say "WOW! This is good stuff!" That would make me so happy. :)

Today we also decided what we are getting for Christmas. Ready for it?......COOKBOOKS!!! YAY! And not just any lame-o cookbooks, but really good ones. There are 6 we are trying to decide between. We are getting 4 of them. When I find out which 4 Mike orders, I'll let you know. Marshy is getting a Black & Decker tool playest, complete with "working" drill press, vicegrips, circular saw, and jigsaw. We put it together the other night. It is cool! We even played with it a little before we put it away. He is also getting Elmo Live! He loves Elmo, and, thankfully, isn't afraid of him everytime we pass him in the store. He has a few books with Elmo's picture in it, and he will open them up and say "Melmo! There he is!" It's really quite cute. Marshy will also be recieving 2 quilts, if I can get them done in time! 1 needs to be bound, and one needs to be quilted. Yikes!

I finally finished my grammar section of my schoolwork, and am now moving on to all the fun medical stuff. Right now I'm studying anatomy. I'm a little nervous, because I know that the patella is the knee cap, and I'm pretty sure that the tibia and fibia are in the leg, but then where does the ulna go? Is it in the arm? (See why I'm nervous?)

Well, there's my 300th post. Not to exciting, I know. Sorry. I think I'm really just more proud of myself for actually making it to 300 posts. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy blogging as much as I have. I am so lucky to have you great readers, and blog friends. It's nice to have friends, and I appreciate all of your comments. And if there are any lurkers out there, I'm glad to have you too!

Cool New Blog - Go check it out!!

For the Scuba diver inside, go check out this great new site. It is not only great because it has cool things you would need as a Scuba diver, but because my DH and BIL (mostly the BIL, although scubud was DH's idea) have been working on it.

I am not a Scuba diver....yet. I want to be one. I have a couple of obstacles I need to overcome first, though.

A) I have 2 yr old. Who will watch him while I am out diving or in a class?

B) I have no money to spend on Scuba diving right now, let alone the class to get certified. I have to buy 8 yards of backing fabric for Grandma's quilt for Christmas. Do you know how expensive that will be?! 8 YARDS!!!

C) Everytime I have money to take the class, I end up getting sick or have some weird ear problem. You can't dive when you have congestion. That would be bad. Very bad.

D) I don't have my basic gear set yet. I really want this cool baby pink colored mask, fin, snorkel set, but I can't find it anywhere in the USA. I have been able to find it in the UK, but then I have to pay for shipping to the US, and it's way expensive anyway.

But this doesn't stop me from at least looking at the cool new Scuba Gadget website and drooling over some of the things on there. (Like the dive caddy that compresses all of your stuff into a backpack. Totally cool!)

Oh, and yeah, my 300th post is coming up in like two posts. Not sure yet what I'll do for it. Have any suggestions? I am totally open!! :)

Quilting Frustrations

Today was a hard day. I have been trying to quilt this really cute quilt for Shasta at Gracie Lou's, and the thread that I am working with is giving me grief. She wanted me to use a wheat colored thread, so I went out and found the perfect color, it's actually called Wheat!, and wound my bobbins and threaded my machine. Seriously, about 10 stitches in the thread broke. Okay, it's 100% cotton thread, so it's a little thicker than the poly-core thread I'm used to using.

So, I unthreaded the machine. Rethreaded the machine. And grabbed my fabric sandwich to test the tension. Still broke. Loosened the top tension. Loosened it some more. Each time the top tension still appeared to be too tight. The bobbin thread was showing on the top of the fabric sandwich, which is not supposed to happen. After playing with it for about an hour, I thought I had it figured out. The thread hadn't broken for a while, so I was keeping my fingers crossed that it would work.

Several many hours later, and about a bobbin and a half worth of thread, I still hadn't finished the first roll. Mike had come over several times to help me. He kept saying "It's your bottom tension that's too tight!" So I gave in, and adjusted it. Still didn't help.

At about 4 PM, or maybe 3:30-ish I can't remember, we left. I was so frustrated! I own a maintenance DVD, so I went home and watched it. It helped a little. But not a whole lot. About as much as my maintenance book helped, which was about [____] that much. I still have a few ideas to try tomorrow, but I am really not feeling optimistic about it.

It makes me sad, because the quilt is SO CUTE! While I was working on the super-cute quilt, one of my clients brought me another quilt. She used fabrics from Tula Pink's "Nest". She wasn't 100% feeling the fabric. She said it wasn't really her style, and she wasn't sure what I could do with it, but I have a ton of ideas! I'm so excited! I totally love Nest, and the brightness of the colors. I just finished my client's last quilt on Saturday. I told her I'd have it done by the end of the week, so I guess I'd better get a move on with this quilt for Shasta. Here's to hoping I can get the thread thing figured out.

Oh, and I'm going to be posting my pictures of completed quilts here, if you want to check them out. I'm going to be adding a whole bunch of finished quilts soon, so keep checking in for updates! Thanks!

New Site

Well, okay, really it's a blog. But I'm treating it like it's my site! :D

Anyway, I've finally gotten most of my marketing materials manufactured, so I'm fnally able to get my quilting blog up and running. Go check it out! I am currently accepting quilts. Also, I'll be making updates to the blog over the next few days. I'm still challenged with the whole PDF file thing, so I've got to wait for Mike to get home so I can link to my PDF documents. He figured out how to do it for me, but didn't show me how to do it!
