Weight loss progress :)

I can finally show some weight loss progress (lost 24.4 lbs!) :)

So, last February I bought this dress (below) to wear to my nephew's wedding. At the time I had lost 14 lbs, and spent 2 months dieting and excerising. I was so excited I went out and paid way more money than I normally would have on this outfit.

I wore it twice before I couldn't wear it anymore :( Well tonight I realized that I weigh 1 lb more today than I did a year ago! So I tried it on and it FITS! I'm so glad, because today I went shopping with the sisters and bought these beauties:
at a KILLER sale at Dillard's. And guess what? They match the dress! It totally wasn't planned. I really went to buy a pair of black shoes and a brown belt, two things I need, but ended up with cute brown shoes instead. :)

So, tomorrow I am going to wear my dress to church. I'm so excited! :)

A "Just in time" OPAM Finish

This is Lola's "Mystery Bag" from last March. I bought the fabric (Andalucia) and cut it out and got the interfacing fused on before I tucked it away in a bag. I totally forgot about it until I stumbled upon the bag this past week.

It's now my brand new computer bag! YAY! Isn't she pretty?? I love the colors of the fabric. I'm glad I was able to finish it this month. Now I have another finish for February's OPAM. I'd like to stay on par with what I did in January each month, and this is getting me just a little closer to that goal.

ANOTHER OPAM finish!!

It must be the fact that the end of the month is coming up quickly, because I finished another project! The "Eva Patchwork Bulletin Board" has been on my MUST-SEW list since I saw the pattern back in August. I bought the charm pack as soon as I could and set it aside to make this.

Well I finally bought the cork pieces and the foam core, the ribbon and the buttons, and decided to make her. She's supposed to go inside a picture frame, but I kind of just like her plain. What do you think? Should I go buy a picture frame, or leave it like this?

The antique-y looking buttons are my favorites, though, paired with the cream/gold ribbon.

Now I just have to decide which wall to hang this on! :)

Boo-Boo

Marshy fell down, on purpose, outside in the parking lot today. He scraped the tops of two of his toes off (almost). It was pretty bad. And freaky. He was surprisingly calm. He let Aunt Angel and I clean it out and put the Spongebob bandaids on. Of course, he did scream a little when we squirted the gravel out of the cuts with the squirt bottle. And he didn't like Aunt Angel holding his toes apart so I could put the bandaids on. But, other than that, he was very brave and only cried a little.

He did wake up a few hours ago complaining that his "boo-boo" hurt, so I gave him some infant Motrin, and that has seemed to help. Poor boy!

Another February OPAM - OZ

I just love "OZ" by Sanae, for Moda. LOVE it LOVE it LOVE it. So....I made a pillow.... (above: front of the pillow, below: back of the pillow)
Out of the leftover fabrics from my Patchwork Charm Pack quilt.

I'm hoping to get this baby quilt quilted up and bound pretty soon. I know the quilt doesn't count for OPAM because it isn't completely done, but the pillow does because it's finished! :)
How do you think I should quilt this baby quilt? I'm thinking flowers. Thoughts?? I'd love to hear your opinions!

Aquarium

Over the weekend we went to the Living Planet Aquarium, in Sandy. We have a year pass, so we like to go as often as we can. Marshy loves the fish - especially the Nemo and Dory fish! This time Marshy actually sat down on the frog and let us take his picture.

The aquarium is currently working on their penguin exhibit in the South America wing. We can't wait until it opens! :)

This is Seriously Awesome

Okay, so you all know how much I love the Twilight series, right?

For those of you who don't know the answer, it's A LOT.

Anyway, so Mike called me and told me he saw this commercial on TV and that I had to check it out on Youtube. It makes me laugh.

Coolest App Ever

So I am totally loving having the HTC DROID Eris. It is the coolest. What I am loving the most is this free app called Reveal. I've downloaded the scriptures (Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, Old and New Testaments), the hymns and the primary songbook, AND a few Classics: Little Women, Jane Eyre, and a few others that I have yet to download, but would like to read (Pride and Prejudice, for example).

The best part is: they're all FREE! :)

You can't beat Free. That's why it's the best app ever.....until I find one cooler. :)

Another OPAM finish - February

I found this cute little panel fabric at Gracie Lou's and had to have it. I grew up on Beatrix Potter's stories, and Marshy has all the little white books, although we haven't really read them much.
Anyway, I had the panel maybe a day before I cut it up, basted the batting onto it, and sewed it up into this book. Marshy LOVES it. He made me read it to him tonight for bed.

Future Florists

A week or so ago they kids all got to make flower arrangements at the shop. Marshy had so much fun doing it! He loved his flowers, and wouldn't let me throw them away until they were really dead. haha

He's such a good little arranger.

Happy with his creation.

Marshy's cousin Tay with his arrangement (behind him).

You can see cousin Gabby in the background with her flowers.

I had a hard time getting Marshy to smile...
This was about as close as I got! haha He's stuffind his mouth with french fries...that's probably why he's smiling!

OPAM 2010 - February Finish

I finally finished Marshy's hopscotch game. It's been sitting, folded up, on the iron holder part of my ironing board in my kitchen for quite a while. Tonight I figured I needed to finish it, since he had gotten it out again and wanted to play with it. So, while I watched the Olympics (Tivo-ed, of course, so I can skip the boring parts! haha) I finished sewing the binding on. It's finally done! WOO HOO!

Puppy

I'd like to introduce you to Puppy. (Here he is with Marshy in August...he has since lost a little weight and turned grey, but we still love him)

Puppy is Marshy's best friend in the whole world, next to Mommy of course.

Puppy goes everywhere Marshy does: even to the potty, although Mommy puts her foot down and insists that Puppy sits on the couch in the living room.

Daddy watched Marshy and Puppy on Saturday while Mommy worked at Sweetbriar for Valentine's Day. Apparently, the whole day Puppy was "sad." This is the convo according to Mike:

Marsh: Puppy's sad.
Dad: Why is Puppy sad?
Marsh: Cuz Puppy's mom is gone.
Dad: Oh.
Marsh: Marshall's sad too.
Dad: Why is Marshall sad?
Marsh: Cuz Marshall's mom is gone.

HOW CUTE IS THAT?! I mean, it's sad, but cute too, that he missed me that much. Sweet boy.

Today Puppy got wrapped up in a towel at work and took a nap next to Marshy, because "Puppy's seepy, he's gonna go take a rest." Then Puppy woke up and helped Marshy do a puzzle and eat his lunch. Funny Puppy! When we got home he even played the DS! haha. Marsh really has Puppy play, too....he holds the stylus and Puppy's paw in his hand and then plays the game that way, so that Puppy can have a turn.

I can't wait to see what Puppy and Marshy do tomorrow.

Send me no flowers

I've had enough! It's Valentine's weekend. I don't want to see another flower for a couple of days, after tomorrow.

Unless, of course, Mike decides to buy me some on his own, and I don't have to make them.

Of course, my HCG diet was his present to me, so he probably won't be getting me flowers, which is OK.

Worked 10 hours today, a few hours Thursday afternoon, and plan on working all day tomorrow too at the floral shop.

Can I tell you something stupid? The local high school had a semi-formal, flowered dance 3 weeks ago. It was girls' choice. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Valentine's dance: semi-formal, flowered, and boys' choice. Do they not realize how expensive flowers are?? And how stupid is it to have a dance just 3 weeks after the last one? It's dumb, that's what it is.

So, if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, I am either dead or recovering from V-Day.

Apologies

I feel like I've been neglecting you, blog and readers, and I'm sorry.

I've been posting almost every day on my diet blog, which is good. You're more than welcome to read it. That's what it's there for :)

I feel like I'm slacking a bit on OPAM for February. Yes, it's only like what? the 6th? But last month I had so many finishes. This month I am struggling already. Let's attribute it to the fact that I'm tired and cranky because I can't pig out on popcorn, soda pop, ice cream, and microwaveable treats. Sounds like a good excuse to me! haha

I have been writing a lot lately. I started rewriting my book and currently am on like chapter seven or eight. It's not as impressive as the last time I wrote (I had over 200 pages written), but at least I'm getting somewhere, and the story makes sense and is cohesive. :)

That's about all I have to say right now. My life's been pretty boring. Oh, except that I've lost 10.5 lbs in just 1 1/2 weeks! WOO WOO! That's pretty exciting.

Hopefully I'll have some more interesting things to say later, or next week.

Veggies... REALLY?

I'm doing the Hcg diet (track my progress here). As part of the diet, I can only eat certain veggies. I've been stumped as to what to do with the veggies that don't quite make up 3.5 oz. Tonight I decided to steam some leftover cauliflower and zucchini and give it to Marshy with his dinner. HE LOVED IT.

Seriously? The boy who only eats chicken nugget kids meals and PBJ sandwiches (with dinosaurs stamped in them) was actually eating VEGGIES?! WOO WOO! I'm so excited! I never thought the day would come that he would eat any veggies willingly, let alone something that wasn't corn or peas. I'm so happy :)
